BIO

Born in Spain, his enthusiasm has led him to take part in different projects around creativity and improvisation in the field of classical music. Focused in historical styles, he is one of the world leaders in offering concerts entirely based on improvisations in baroque, classical, romantic, impressionist and other 20th music styles. His activities include, among others, the completion of unfinished works by Mozart, improvised ornamentation and varied repeats and the improvisation of cadenzas.

Graduated from the ESMUC in Barcelona, he finished his studies obtaining a total of five Honorable Mentions in different areas, including improvisation. He completed the official studies of Master in Research and Master in Pedagogy in Valencia and Zaragoza. In 2017 he obtained the degree of PhD. in History of Art and Musicology from the University of Oviedo..

In the field of improvisation he was self-taught. Then he worked with Professor Juan de la Rubia during his stay at the ESMUC in Barcelona. Later he obtained the degree of Master in Piano Improvisation with the highest qualification in the final exam studying with Professor Noam Sivan at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart.

Very committed to the recovery of the practice of improvisation in relation to the existing keyboard repertoire of the classical period, he has been also interested in historical pianos and he has received lessons from Prof. Stefania Neonato in HMDK Stuttgart. He is also the happy owner of magnificent copy of Stein (1790) built by Jacques Braux.

He carries out an important pedagogical work as a teacher of workshops and courses of improvisation and ear training in numerous institutions and is regularly invited by music education centers (Hochschule für Musik und Theater Munich, Escuela Superior de Música de Lisboa, etc.). He has been Professor in  Improvisation and Ear training at the Conservatorio Superior de Música del Principado de Asturias (2010-2013) and the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Aragón (2013-2019). He has also taught at the Escuela Superior de Música de Cataluña (2016-2019). Since 2019 he teaches Improvisation at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Navarra, where he is also Professor and Head of Composition and Improvisation Department .
